Question
: I have lost the cable that runs from scanner to PC. Is this a regular cable that I could pick up at a local store?
Answer : Most scanners use USB (Universal Serial Bus) cables to connect to the computer. These are standard cables that you can get anywhere. USB is the same kind of connection that most printers, thumb drives, and other portable devices use. Current USB connections are backwards compatible with earlier USB versions.
A few Kodak scanners use a "Firewire" connector. This is also a standard connector that can be purchased at your local store. To find out what kind of connection your scanner has, you can find your scanner on our scanner search page and look at the Interface type.
Some high-volume scanners and older models use SCSI cables. This is a much larger, thicker cable than USB and usually connects to a separate PCI card that is installed in the computer. You can order SCSI cables here.
Very old models use a cable called "Video" that is a double wire with a large and small connector on one end and a single connector to the computer. You can order Video cables here.
