Answer :
The answer to this question depends on several factors. Are your forms already printed or filled out, or can they be redesigned? Do you have only checkmarks, or does the form contain machine print or handprinted elements as well?
If you have only checkmark fields and machine print, there are some very inexpensive products that can accomplish this. SimpleIndex provides an excellent low-cost solution for those that do not require handprint capabilities.
For forms with handwritten fields, ABBYY FlexiCapture is a versatile forms processing solution with accurate handprint recognition and a relatively simple configuration interface. There are solutions that support handprint recognition that cost less, but they tend to be far less accurate, and many don't allow the use of existing form designs. There are also systems that are much more expensive but don't offer many advantages in terms of ease or accuracy.
FlexiCapture also allows you to capture data from documents without a consistent layout, such as invoices that come from many different vendors.
IRIS software provides the IRISCapture product line for invoices and forms processing. It is more affordable than FlexiCapture, but lacks many of the the advanced features, such as table recognition. |
