Question
: When I scan there is a black line running down each page. What causes this and how can I fix it?
Answer : The most likely and easily diagnosed cause for this problem is a particle of ink or dust that is attached to the lamp or the glass covering the lamp. As the page runs over the lamp, it registers that spot as black and causes a line to run the length of the page. To fix this, simply remove the particle from the glass or lamp. The location of the particle will correspond to the location of the line on the page, so pay attention to which side of the page this occurs.

If thorough cleaning does not fix the problem, there could be an issue with your camera or CCD unit, and will require a licensed technician for further diagnosis.
